Two-bedroom Cocoa Beach condos for launch nights

If you want two bedrooms in Cocoa Beach and a rocket in the sky, the two homes to compare are the 2 Bedroom Condo at The Diplomat with Rocket Launch Views, which sleeps four, and the Beachside Condo with Pool, which sleeps five and has an ocean view from a private balcony. Both are condos in Cocoa Beach, both have a kitchen, free parking and Wi-Fi, and both put you on this stretch of the coast where the Atlantic is the thing you look at and the launch pads are up to the north.
The decision between them is mostly about how many of you there are, and what you want to do with the hours when nothing is launching.
The one that puts launch views in its name
The 2 Bedroom Condo at The Diplomat with Rocket Launch Views sits in the Diplomat beachfront community, a three-minute stroll from the sand, and it's the only one of the two whose own description promises a front-row seat for the Space Coast's launches. Both bedrooms have a queen, which makes it a clean fit for two couples or a small family of four rather than five.
What it has going for it beyond the view is the community around it: a pool, direct beach access, barbecue grills and a covered picnic area, plus shuffleboard, pickleball and tennis courts. Launches slip. They slip by an hour, by a day, sometimes by a week, and a scrub is a lot easier to take when there's a pickleball court and a grill between you and the next window. The unit is on the first floor, one small step up to the door, and the beach access boardwalk ends in eight stairs down to the shore.
Cupboards are stocked with beach chairs, an umbrella, towels and a boogie board, so you're not buying a trunk full of gear at a drugstore on arrival. No pets here.
The one with a balcony and room for five
The Beachside Condo with Pool is a different proposition: two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a king in the master, a double and a single in the second room, a sofa bed in the living room, and an ocean view from a private balcony. That balcony is the reason to pick it. Launch nights in Cocoa Beach are social, and the people who enjoy them most are the ones who don't have to go anywhere: coffee or a drink in hand, blinds open, eyes north.
It's the better kitchen too, if you plan to cook. Oven, stove, microwave, blender, kettle, a dining table and wine glasses, which is a genuinely different experience from reheating takeaway. There's a washer and dryer in the unit, long stays are allowed, and small pets under twenty pounds are welcome.
One thing to weigh honestly: it's on the third floor with no elevator. If anyone in your party would rather not do stairs with luggage and a cooler, the first-floor Diplomat unit is the easier arrival.
Side by side
- Four of you, want the launch-view framing and courts to kill time on a scrub: 2 Bedroom Condo at The Diplomat with Rocket Launch Views. First floor, queen in each bedroom, beach gear provided, no pets.
- Five of you, or you want a balcony and a real kitchen: Beachside Condo with Pool. Ocean view, two bathrooms, washer and dryer, small dog welcome, third floor with no elevator.
- Both: Cocoa Beach, two bedrooms, kitchen, free parking, Wi-Fi, beach access, pool.
A note on sightlines, since it's the question everyone asks: a view is a view of the sky, and what you see from any given balcony depends on the pad, the trajectory and the weather that night. We'll tell you what we know about a specific unit's orientation when you ask us, and we'd rather do that than promise you something the clouds can take away.
Where people actually watch, if the balcony isn't enough
The beach itself is the simplest answer, and from either condo you're walking to it. But plenty of guests want to be somewhere with a crowd and a horizon, and Cocoa Beach has a handful of spots worth the short drive.
- Alan Shepard Park, on the East Cocoa Beach Causeway, has more than 300 parking spaces, restrooms, outdoor showers and shaded picnic pavilions. Parking runs a few dollars an hour or a flat day rate, and on big launch nights it fills.
- Lori Wilson Park, on North Atlantic Avenue, has free parking, picnic space and an easy walk to the sand. It stays quieter than the pier, which is the whole point of going there.
- Cocoa Beach Pier reaches 800 feet out over the water and has five restaurants on it. Spectators pay a couple of dollars, waived if you have a receipt from somewhere on the pier, so buy a beer and call it even.
- Jetty Park, up at Port Canaveral, puts you closest to the pads of anything on this list: a wide beach, a fishing pier and a campground, with a small parking fee on launch days.
- North of all of that, Space View Park and the Max Brewer Bridge in Titusville sit nearest to pads 39A and 39B. It's a committed drive from the beach and worth it only for the launches you really care about.
The rest of the trip, between windows
Launches are a reason to come, not a schedule to build a holiday around, and the good news is that this is a beach town first. Both condos have a pool and beach access, which covers most of a Cocoa Beach weekend without a car key. Surf here is forgiving more often than not, and the Diplomat's boogie board is enough for most people to find out.
Kennedy Space Center is the obvious day out, a drive north on A1A and then inland, somewhere around three quarters of an hour depending on traffic and which bridge you take. Go on a day with no launch scheduled; the visitor complex gets busy when one is. The Beachside Condo also keeps a bicycle, which is a better way to cover the flat streets between the condo and the pier than circling for a parking space.
Before you book
We're locally owned and independently operated, and we've been looking after homes in Brevard County for more than twenty years, which mostly means we know which building has what and can tell you honestly when a home isn't right for your group. Every home goes through a quality inspection and hotel-grade cleaning, and there's guest support around the clock if something goes sideways at eleven at night.
Book direct with us rather than through a listing site: there's a best-rate guarantee, guest perks, and a local team on the other end of the message who can tell you where to park on a launch night. Check current availability for your dates, and check the launch schedule the week you travel, because it will have changed since you booked.
